Rishabh Pant – Early Cricket Journey

Rishabh Pant born and brought up in a Kumauni family in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. He has improved his batting skills after the advise of his coach Tarak Sinha, where he had travelled to Delhi on weekends to get trained from Tarak Sinha and stayed in Gurudwara during this time with his mother at the age of 12 years. He has not got changes in U-13 and U-15 cricket. But, he came in limelight after scoring a century of 150 runs for Delhi in second innings of a U-19 Ranji Trophy match against Assam. After that, during the 2016 Mens U-19 World Cup, he hit 18 balls fifty against nepal which is fastest at this level. He has also hit 48 balls century in Ranji Trophy match of 2016 against Jharkhand for Delhi.

Rishabh Pant’s IPL wonder

Rishabh Pant was bought by Delhi Daredevils (DD) in 2016 IPL after hitting 18 balls fifty in U-19 World Cup. He has debuted in same season against Gujarat Lions. But his overall performance in IPL 2016 was not good. Rishabh Pant overall career in IPL is not so good except IPL 2018 where he scored 684 runs with 1 century and 5 half century. IPL 2018 is the only season where he has crossed 500 runs mark in a single season. In IPL 2021, due to sudden rule out of Shreyas Iyer for full season, Rishabh Pant has choosen as a full time captain of Delhi Capitals (DC). But his bad form in IPL is carrying on. So Delhi Capitals has released him after IPL 2024. But he was bought by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) with huge price of 27 crore. But again, due to bad form in IPL 2026 and 2027, both in batting and captaincy, he was again traded back to Delhi Capitals (DC) with a price of 15 crores.

Worst year of Rishabh Pant

On 30th December 2022, Rishabh Pant met with a severe car accident in Roorkee, Uttarakhand and he got benched for atleast 1 years from international cricket and IPL 2023 also. His international cricket career also affected so much due to this incident and he lost his permanent place in ODI & T20, both international cricket format because of his continued bad form in international cricket. He lost his vice captaincy in Test cricket but due to his past performance in Test Cricket his place remains firm in Test cricket.

The hitting master of Test Cricket

He has played tremendously well in Test Cricket. He reminds of Virender Sehwag batting approach who played fearlessly in all formats of cricket. We also remind Rishabh Pant for his Gabba innings, where India won Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) consecutively 2 times in 2022 after 2018 in Ajinkya Rahane captaincy. Currently he has topped as a Indian batter in World Test Championship (WTC) list with 2885 runs just 73 innings of 41 matches with 80 maximums and 314 boundaries, followed by Shubhman Gill with 2867 runs in 75 innings of 41 matches with 46 maximums and 321 boundaries. This is showing that he has retained his form again. In future, it will be interesting to see his fearless batting approach in international cricket including Test cricket also. We will also wish that he will again retain his position ODI and T20I cricket for Indian Team. Then we will see his bizarre shots in World Cup matches also.
