World Test Championship

(WTC Cycle 2025-27)

World Test Championship is a league-format tournament organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for Test-playing nations. It was created to give context, importance, and competitiveness to bilateral Test series & increase fan engagement with the longest format. Each WTC cycle lasts two years. All teams play a set number of Test series (both home and away) against different opponents. Teams earn points on winning, draw or tying of a match. Standings are based on percentage of points won. The top two teams on the points table play a one-match final. The winner becomes the World Test Champion.

  •        12 points for a win
  •        6 points for a tie
  •        4 points for a draw
  •        Teams are ranked according to the percentage of points won.
  •        The Top two teams progress to the final in 2027.
  •        Point Deductions: Points are deducted for slow over rates.
